Staying Focused on the Word, part 2
It is known that “staying focused on the Word” does not have the results that the world gets. Those results are same ones that we read or hear about in regards to murder, spousal abuse, rape, crime in general, and eventually the lake of fire.
Let us look at what “staying focused on the Word” does not mean.
Well it does not mean to walk around in trace quoting scriptures. It does not mean that you cannot enjoy family and friends at social events, sporting events and wholesome actives.
What I am saying, “staying focused on the Word” simply means to have the Word God as the foundation, the frame of reference, the guide that daily influences our decisions and actions.
The Word of God must be the point of reference that influences our behavior when we are with family and friends, at social and sporting events, at the mall, store, river bank, beach, school, work and in the privacy of our homes.
If His word is what we base everything that we do and say on, then the Word of God has become the core value of our lives, the core value of our thinking.
So then, if that is the case we will not choose to speak lies, because of the quality decision that we have made based on what God’s word had said in regards to how we should live, speak and think.
If His word is what we base everything that we do and say on, then we will not choose to purse after the desires of flesh that is outside of the will of God, or the desires of the eyes to see what God’s word does not permit to watch, or stare at. All of that comes about because of the quality decision that we made based up on what God’s word has said in respect to how we should emotionally feel, react, consider, watch or live.
If His word is what we base everything that we do and say on then, the Word of God has become the foundation of our lives, the nucleus of our thinking. We will not let the pride of life, our egos, be so big where as our egos over shadows the Word’s influence in our thinking, decision making, behavior and speech.
All of this should be portrayed in our daily living, because the Word of God has become important to us, where as we will not choose to break from the truth that has been declared unto us in the Bible.
The Word gives us instruction, and that is, our pattern of thinking must be in line with God’s desires not just on Sundays. The Word of God gives instruction to us on our behavior before people, family and when we are alone.
The Word of God inspires us in hope, and faith in our Great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.
There it is. We can see the importance of “staying focused on the Word”. Staying focused will get the results that God wants for us, His people, to have in our lives. However, on the other side of this, “if we think like the world and act like the world, then we will receive the results that the world gets.”
